Elvira turned her head when she heard a crash in the woods close behind her. She immediately stood to her full height, her brindled fur making her harder to spot as it broke up her shape. Something in her chest stirred as she started to turn her entire body, gold eyes glittering through her skull mask. Once she finished turning, a pink line shimmered into existence, starting at her chest and leading to a bundle of fur and scales.

"Are you alright?" the Nightmare asked, slinking shyly closer. Curiosity pushed her ever closer, and when her gold eyes met emerald green ones, her heart felt like it stopped in her chest. And when it resumed, there was a second echoing beat within her ribcage. While she felt at home in Drekistone, the wolf in front of her made her feel . . . safe.
