Rayne hit the ground hard, realizing she'd said too much. Her wings jounced, and she bit out a whimper as her ankle crunched again. "Bastian or Bones?! Which one was it and where was he going?! So that's why you were so skittish of me, you knew who I was. He told you! Why would he not?" Rayne squeezed her eyes shut, with a whimper. "I will not hurt you, as long as you tell me where they were going. It simply sounds like they were not interested, but I see a fire in you. You may have wanted to die, but you begged for your life when it came to me. You shouldn't have traitorous, weak men's children when you can have mine." That last part vexed Rayne more than anything else. What are you talking about!? I have no fire! she protested. I'm unimportant! And for your information, I did not beg you for my life! I begged you to let me go so I could find someplace else to die! Speaking of, please do let me out now, by the way, I have no idea who Bones is, or where Bastian was going. I ran away as soon as he broke the relationship! Happy!? She tried to look threatening, and, very horrifically, failed. And no, after what just happened to me, can you think of me having any more whelps? No! Rayne wriggled frantically. She had to get out of here. Rayne would never forgive herself for giving Bastian up. Sure, he’d dumped her, but Rayne wasn’t the jealous or petty type, and she got guilty really easily. Nonetheless, she was in a heaping load of trouble now.
