Her magenta eyes didn't waver to meet his much until she asked him of his own story. She had spilled hers, a sad tale of a ruined and lost life washed down with no reason. His expression seemed almost . . . empathetic? She didn't want to be pitied. ”Lady Aurora, I am sorry that that happened to you. Know that although I have claimed you, I will never leave your side.” She shook her head, a small smile pulling at the corner of her lips. She wasn't really okay with her new position, but at least he was sweet and interested in her. ”As for me, well…to be honest… My father’s rules are the way they are for a reason…it’s his tendencies. However, the women do have the right to choose the victor if the wolf who claimed them is challenged.” Her eyes stared at him as he spoke.
Why was the King like this? Why did he think he had the right to do such a thing as objectifying women? Surely they could choose if someone challenged, IF. But for the Gods sakes, she was just put on a pedestal and paraded to the men to be picked. ”He’s changed since my birth, now being with Soraya long term, but he has many children with many different females. I do not desire multiple such bonds. I only need one in my life. As for my eye, well, I lost it in the recent war. The alphess of Hawthorne took it from me.” Her eyebrow pricked at the mention of the war, and him losing an eye. Yet she stayed silent, watching him instead as he looked down to the string that connected them. ”Have you heard of these soul ties before?”
She shook her head. "Is that what it is?" She asked, confused as to how being here she had only just found out about such a thing. ”Frankly, the timing of it all ended being quite nice – as I said before, I really only want one partner. And I was waiting for my soulmate to come around.” She gave a soft smile, though she was good at faking it she only half did so. This connection made her want to do things with him that her brain said no to. "Now that we've gotten to know each other more, didn't you want to lay together?" She asked, her ears flattening as she scootched closer to him. She both wanted to do so, and yet also wanted to just have it over with so she could sleep and then run for the hills. There had to be more to this realm than just this. Of course her fate was sealed the moment she was seen coming into the pack, and she feared leaving such a large number of wolves . . . Especially when it came to breaking the heart of her soulmate. Maybe a lay would put the spark into it?
