The girl of Dane-blooded descent sized up her soulmate. “Enigma. It’s not every day I’m paired up with a pretty woman.” His voice was very deep. Raven cocked her head.
“Then Enigma, don’t you have something else to say?” she teased. “An ode to my beauty? A poem about soulmate ties?” She saw him looking. She didn’t care; let him look. She was pretty and she knew it.
“Well, is this something you’d like to pursue for a night of fun?” She considered. Raven was not keen so much on the idea of bearing children, but she knew that if it did happen she would be furthering her line, though she had no intention of settling down. That just would not happen. A soulmate would mean a one-night lay, maybe two. She smirked right back at him.
“Enigma, I would love to. You read my mind.” She studied this man, the one made of horns and ivory. He might be a womanizer, okay, but it wasn’t like she actually loved him. Love was for some stupid, petty fool. She would not make that mistake. It had already cost her too much in Tarben.
