Achilles, Achilles, just put down the bottle
don't listen to what you've consumed
Achilles had been more on edge ever since Hermes came back with a pregnant Aurora that had pups, some of which looked too much like the Tarben prince to be coincidental. The crimson, leather, and chocolate clad lad was doing his airborne rounds of the border in the sky. He had to keep watch, keep a keen eye for potential trouble. The alpha couldn’t blame his eldest children, aside from Hermes, for wanting to get out for a few moments. Not long ago, his grey eyes had spotted Aeolus moving toward Ashen Woodlands. That was close enough. But Iris? He watched as her snowy blue sky pelt trekked across the land, and a strong gut feeling hit him. Without hesitation, he followed silently in the sky.
She had reached Star Lake when she stopped. It was a little farther than most of the areas his children traveled to, but close enough to not be all too concerned. The crimson, leather, and chocolate clad male let out a soft sigh of relief, starting to turn around to fly back to Sabertooth. That relief was short lived, however, as he saw a shadowy figure out of the corner of his eye as he turned back towards home. Achilles then oriented back. But his movement was too slow. Blood now tainted Iris’s snowy sky-blue pelt, that the color faded fast. ”NO!!!” He shouted, in which the sound of it would have been faint to the murderer’s ears, but still audible. Achilles quickly plunged into a deep dive, swooping towards the killer, who at that point had started to turn away. If the culprit were fast enough, he would be only slightly nicked by the Sabertooth alpha’s massive caribou antlers, but if the black beast has hesitated, claws would gouge into his back as Achilles would make his landing.
The alpha would make sure to land in a position facing the black brute, bowing into a defensive position with a snarl on his lips. He had never felt this rage…and he could not lie, it felt good. His steely eyes were locked onto the black brute, eventually meeting his eyes, colored a deep red. Only one source would want Sabertooth members dead – that was Tarben. And that hellish icy landscape was known for their “refugee” that was ordered to stay within their borders by Hawthorne, Dawnshire, and Amberjorne – Phobus. A beast of black fur and red eyes. This was…him. The male that had assaulted a princess, and although he was supposed to be locked away for eternity in Hawthorne, he escaped thanks to Beartooth. Although Achilles had many questions, now was not the time to ask them. ”Phobus, tell tch’ya ignorant, sexist ruler of a with’ring, lifeless, icy hellscape, that this is war. I’m expecting t’see tch’ya at Proving Grounds at the next dawn. We will show no mercy.” With that, Achilles stiffened up, walking over to Iris’s body in a way that did not leave him exposed to attacks from Phobus. Tears remained locked away as he looked down at his daughter’s dead body before attempting to look at the dreaded murderer again. ”Didn’t I tell tch’ya to go?” Achilles paused for a moment before he slowly growled out the next word. ”L e a v e.”
Achilles would not pick up his deceased daughter, whose sky pelt was now completely dimmed to gray tones, until the brute had left. The crimson, leather, and chocolate likely guessed he was not too threatening to Phobus, considering the Sabertooth alpha’s body was towered over by the black dire’s own. But Achilles’s antlers made up for that height difference. Once Phobus left, Achilles let the tears flow, touching his nose to Iris’s, not caring that the blood that pooled from around her neck was drying to his paws. He couldn’t hold back. ”Iris…?” He started, words becoming shaky as was natural with someone wallowing in despair and grief and sadness from losing their child in such a brutal way. ”It’s…time to…go home, honey.” He sniffled, nuzzling her limp head before grabbing her with his paws and flying back to Sabertooth, his tears dropping like little raindrops as he swiftly and silently upon barn owl wings carried Iris back home.
