Good luck getting your kid into a D1 program if all we have is club wrestling. If you don't want your kid to be held to school standards for grades or for cutting weight correctly they will never make it in a D1 program. The common mistake parents make is thinking that all wrestling is supposed to teach there kid is how to be a state champion and nothing more! The values and characteristics that STUDENT Athletes get from wrestling and being held accountable to there team is of greater value then any medal around their neck. I do think club wrestling is a huge value to the athletes and needs to pushed to grow and get stronger but taking sports from school and not holding the kids to being at 3rd period or maintaining good grades would be a giant mistake! I would love to hear some college coaches give there thoughts on this one.
