What you think you can accomplish principle stands. We had to level the yard, get a debris dumpster, build a retaining wall, lay a paver patio, etc. Not things I want shitting the bed in 5 years in my DIY dreams.
But afterward the offered a monthly service where they'd come trim and weed for like 175 bucks a month.
No thanks. I can do that part.

I had a riding mower growing up, still hated it, but yeah, if I had a big yard, I'd be much more inclined to outsource it. We did hire a landscaper last year.

...and probably take like 15 minutes to mow.
If we had like acres to mow, I can't imagine that'd be very enjoyable or you'd at least have to have a riding mower. At that point in time, I could see a service might make more sense than buying a 5K dollar zero turn mower.

and it's probably the chore I hate the most.

I redid the brakes on my car a couple years ago, built some book cases (or rather, helped my dad build some book cases), fixed the plumbing under my kitchen sink, etc.
stuff that was actually pretty easy to do, I just never considered doing it myself or had a need to.
so...if something is relatively straightforward I might consider doing it myself now more than I would have a few years ago.
I couldn't have someone clean my house. I would consider having someone mow my lawn. that shit gets old real quick when it's super hot outside.
