My mother was deaf mostly all my life and a very close friend had no hearing in his left ear and very little in his right ear. He hardly heard with the strongest available hearing aid.

I had to accompany them to many places to act as their ears. My mother lived with me several years after my father died. She used Closed Captions to watch TV. I got use to it and still use it.
