Mine was from a thing when I was in my mid-forties. Right ear hearing is mostly gone - except for certain tones.

I can hear through the phone mostly. I use closed caption on the tv. I have a dog. Although I don't know if I will go that route after this one...my previous dog, lost her in 2023 and it nearly killed me.

It is a weird thing though - because I can hear sirens (tornado or law enforcement/medical/fire) no problem. And certain tones. They can't fix it - so them's the breaks
