But understanding the role and the mission is important. The Founders did not want the military beholden to one person. They wanted power diffused. That is why we must decide if we are declaring war or turning our military into law enforcement agents. If it is the former, the Constitution makes it clear that the Congress should be part of the decision. If the military is being turned into a law enforcement role, then it should be understood whose laws we are enforcing, especially if enforcement activities are on foreign soil. I am all for bringing the bad guys to justice. I just want to make sure we are not ignoring the Constitution in the process. That oath is important.
