Nothing changed with HUD, either, as promised. Local news-wire this morning...another farm down and land sold to build a HUGE complex of low income apartments behind the other portion of land that was sold to build the Walmart. That is all that will be there right now...apartments and a Walmart. And Cows.
Which...okay...housing is needed but our property values are going to tank and this is low income in the middle of rural communities with upper middle income. Listen...I have been both rural and city and I know good and dayum well what it feels like to be a teenager moved from the city into rural America...and I had the benefit of early years in rural area where one would think make an easier adjustment...one is a complete duck out of water with NOTHING in common with teenagers from rural America. The minute I graduated highschool, I high-tailed it back to city. Of course, make plans and the universe laughs, I married a man who has to have the country air to breathe.
It is a bit better nowadays due to the internet and cable tv - the world is smaller...and yet still. There is no transit access into suburbia for teenage activities...the nearest Y is 7 miles away. Nothing for city kids who are not old enough to drive to do but get into trouble. And there will be trouble.
