The reason for this is that the mother's liver filters toxins for the developing baby for most of the pregnancy. And the baby's liver is one of the last things that fully developed and can't filterthe
acetaminophen from its system properly.
I'm sure anything the mother takes during pregnancy can and does affect the baby. I have heard that is why the mom is often nauseous. It's nature's way of protecting the developing child. My wife used to work in the nursery. She would tell me the horror stories of babies being born with drug addictions. I heard they are always looking for volunteers to come in and hold and be a comfort to these babies.

I think we often take too many meds. One thing about myself I've noticed is that if I feel pain, I look for Tylenol, aspirin, etc. Sometimes if I wait a bit, the pain will go away. I think what Kennedy says is, "Don't overdo it."
