The differences are numerous and significant.

The Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials were built many decades after those great presidents were gone. Their legacies, well deserved, had a chance to ruminate in the hearts and minds of the American people. The new Board at the Kennedy Center changed the rules, giving them the right to rename the Center. But granting themselves the power to do something doesn’t necessarily make the exercise of that self-appointed power right. Their decision played into the narrative that Trump is a self-consumed narcissist and, in effect, depletes his political capital with the American people at a time when he needs it to advance his legislative agenda.
