Unless things change significantly - always a possibility - I think the next GOP candidate might well be Vance. Unless JD absolutely knocks it out of the park in however much time he gets in office prior to 2028* or the Democrats once again manage to pick a terrible candidate, I don't see him winning. The usual swing of the pendulum...
* I don't see Trump completing this term. Not because I think he'll be removed but because I don't think his declining health will permit it.
