Thanks for asking after her. She is certainly a presence and a tough ol' bird! To recap:
She had a spell of weight loss, that dried out look of being extremely old, couldn't hold food or water down, sleeping a lot.
The vet practice here is falling victim to the all-too-common blaming everything for poor throughput practices; "staffing shortage", "supply chain issues" have become just clichés used to not do anything. Probably cheaper, too. I could go on a rant about losing sight of purpose, but I couldn't get an appointment for a sick animal at the vet for a fortnight?
Anyway, treatment was on me, then. We started feeding her wet food in small servings many times a day followed by a nap behind closed doors and she has bounced back quite a bit over the last two weeks. She is pretty much back into the pride by her own fruition, still eating in small meals, but holding it down, filled back out a bit, moving about as usual, and her fur looking much nicer.
She is at least sixteen, so will probably always remain a bit bony, but her life has improved and her interest in it is back. Two weeks ago I wouldn't have dared thought she would still be here, let alone holding court as per usual.
