Actually I know full well what the problem is because I must have wasted reams of paper on trying to devise a foolproof parser in regular English, so I know what the problem is.
In fact its in the same league as my constant complaints about the lack of an English programming language though admittedly Basic was a nice attempt for its time.
The problem is that computers cannot handle 'maybe' its either Yes or No decision making.
I normally write stories for my own amusement and even I am occasionally flummoxed by having written myself into a corner from which I cannot devise an escape.
This is where TILES came into focus thanks to Sarge's advice. Don't get stuck just skip onto the next bit unless or until you find a way out of your dilemma, otherwise write that episode off and continue as before.
The trouble with English from a programmers and parsers point of view is that its gloriously flexible with no restraints on gender or even time placement because its a pidgin, a trading language, built to assimilate and use whatever term works best in the circumstances. In no other language does this sentence make sense....
