All my troubles seemed about to stay...
I had been dreading this visit to the urologist because the previous visit had apparently shown that my body wasn't prepared to act without a catheter, the internal bladder scoping was painful and the attempts to teach us how to catheterize me at home were not successful and also painful.
Our nurse Sue, a Chinese RN who's a sweetie, hadn't been available at that last visit but for this one she was. She gives us all sorts of goodies we might need, sterile drapes, diapers etc. which can really cost a bomb if you have to buy them retail and assuming they are even available without a prescription!
Sue confided to us that office visits are not meant to take longer than 15 minutes, which explains the rather hurried examination by the urologist who always seems to be rushing from one patient to another without ever getting to know any of them.
So the previous visits upshot had been fitting me with a new catheter and bag but at least this one fit properly, didn't leak and didn't cause me to lose blood like hell because the plonker doesnt like tubes moving inside the plumbing. My bags looked like transfusion bags and we'd been getting a bit worried about it.
I was dreading this latest visit because I was afraid that it looked like me being intubated for the rest of my days, seeing as the
previous visit had failed to get the catheter removed successfully.
Also it meant sitting in a cold office for hours with bare legs exposed waiting for the plumbing to start working properly after being pumped full of sterile water to put pressure on the bladder and induce, normal flow.
SO this time I vowed not to waste time waiting and took a notebook along so I could continue with Brythan Part 6 which resulted in 8 pages of rough notes but thats all I need to reference ideas before licking it into shape - more or less.
Get rich quick doctors stink but pretty, competent and kindly nurses are the gold standard!
