The Bullet? I have ridden both the 350 and 500 versions and have to say that have/use one as an everyday mode of transport requires a lot of enthusiasm on ones part.
Whilst totally gutless compared to more modern iron they are competent enough to keep up with traffic street wise, motorway wise not so much.
They also suffer the old single potter's bug bare of bad vibration. So much so that any kind of touring work has to be punctuated with many rest stops to find some relief from white knuckle.
The 500 that I rode also had the not so endearing habit of shedding bits of running gear due to vibration, some may say it was just this bike personally I think not and it's just something endemic to a design that's entering its ninety sixth year.
The interceptor however is a totally different animal.
It has the vintage looks of an earlier time but married to an thankfully oil-tight prime mover that has a better balanced crank than it's earlier forebear so is surprisingly smooth for a twin, better more reliable electrics are also a boon.
The noise it makes is pleasing Enfield insomuch as it makes the softer Enfield duff duff note as opposed to say a Triumph's snarl.
It's road going performance and handling apparently is excellent and here's the kicker.
Price.
Over here six and a half grand on the road, whereas the equivalent Japanese iron is three grand dearer so a no brainer fiscally.
I certainly know which machine I preferr.
