The one that really matters is the angle of the handlebars. One thing I remember of my 650 was the comfort of the bars set up pointed down a bit, obvious when compared to the 750 in the photos. A little thing perhaps but so much easier on the wrists.
I've never understood the "ape-hanger" bars. An un-natural position in so many ways; the extreme ones the wannabes put on Harleys has your spine vertical to take every shock, and how you quickly steer the dam thing around one of those all-too-often obstructions that pop up is beyond me.
And you look like a moron (especially with the matching foot-hardware so your crotch could play, too!) ready to catch every bird and bee with open arms; many of us called them "Jesus Christ bars" (alluding to the appearance of crucifixion).
There is also the term "Coyote bike"; it doesn't take much imagination to compare the rider's body position to that of good ol' Wile E. Coyote spattered into a cliff face or on the front of a train in the cartoons.
Most stupid accessory in the world; proving the point that a Harley is nothing more than a narcissist's male costume jewellery; a temper tantrum with wheels. Those bars made the rider look like a petulant child too small for his tricycle.
