A word about that emotional silliness, then, shall we? (rubbing his hands together in abject glee).
One of the larger social issues we face as a species is the immediate running away to the bathroom in tears and the slamming of the "I'm Offended" door at the slightest discord, real or imagined. Even worse and as pervasive is this nauseating propensity for being "offended" but for someone else; just loose-stool-water of the worst sort.
I don't mind folks being annoyed, miffed, peeved, pissed-off, angry, &c, but I cannot afford one any credence for playing the "offended" card as trumps. Offence implies a moral high-ground; most often an unearned one (and so often one with nary an anthill in sight upon which to stand).
Self-righteousness is the motivation, not true anger. "I'm offended" really means "I'm better than you." Any more, when someone tells me they are offended, my reaction is not even remotely sympathetic. Self-promoting tw*ts...
