Sadly, Youtube is now a major news source, if you want to call the repetition of biased opinion needing to meet no editorial standard "news".

One has to bear in mind there is absolutely no vetting of anything before posting on Youtube, and the advancement of any vid submitted is based purely and solely on "views", read "popularity".

Popularity does not make good journalism (or indeed good history; another of my beefs with Youtube). Though the Tube is most egregious, this is the major flaw of the internet as a whole. Gleeful mass adherence expressed as popular "opinion" does not make truth, does not make objectivity, does not make journalism.

The result is predictable and already our world is mortally wounded by division, the existence of far-right and far-left with nothing in the middle, lies, distortion, ignorance, repetition of opinion until it becomes fact, the bludgeoning of the mind with outrageous lies that with any pause for reasoned thought would be seen as clearly outrageous lies to any remotely sentient being, propaganda most foul, mob thought, hyper-patriotism, religious revival, and the death of reason.

Where once op-ed was limited to the page after the masthead, it now is everything in the whole dam paper. The internet is the death of reasoned thought, of truth, of fact. It will be the death of us.
