Almost all of the people we met were from the US, mostly from California and New York. I wondered if the tour people planned it that way to avoid friction in light of recent events. The river cruise we went on last summer was much more diverse internationally… but that was before dt was elected, of course. People didn’t really talk about politics. Some were there on a religious pilgrimage of sorts as we visited some of the sites the disciples of Jesus had been. We visited the cave on Patmos where John had supposedly written the book of Revelations. Ephesus was very interesting, too. Also, Delphi… where people went to consult with the oracles. Fascinating history. Kinda odd how many consider ancient myths and religious beliefs as just “myths” while taking their own beliefs in miracles and such as literal fact.
