He was able to put into words what millions of young people felt. He became their voice. When Roger McGuinn of the Byrds met him, McGuinn was afraid he'd not like what the Byrds did with Turn Turn Turn and other Dylan songs. Dylan said he liked it. McGuinn put a beat people could dance to. You can't dance to Dylan unless your drunk, high, or incredibly awkward. Dylan's protest songs drew a line between support and opposition to the Vietnam War, and they could do that now with proliferation of the Iran War. We occasionally sang a Dylan song in church, immediately linked to a protest hymn about the life or work of Christ. I have highest respect for Dylan.
