President Donald Trump is voicing sympathy for seven men accused in a gang rape case at Cornell University.

A woman identified as “Jane Doe” filed a civil lawsuit last month alleging she was given ketamine and gang raped at a Cornell frat house in Ithaca, N.Y., in 2024. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul named New York State Attorney General Letitia James as a special prosecutor to oversee the investigation on Thursday.

“Letitia James is a corrupt person,” Trump told media Friday. “She’s totally corrupt, and I can’t imagine it.”

“And I feel badly for whoever she’s looking at because they won’t get a fair shake. Letitia James is a corrupt person.”

NY AG James has previously clashed with Trump multiple times, including a state lawsuit that forced the president to dissolve his charitable foundation and pay a $2 million fine. She also accused Trump and his company, the Trump Organization, of deceiving banks, insurers and others by overvaluing assets and his net worth on financial paperwork in a separate case.

Trump, who was found guilty by jury of sexually abusing writer E. Jean Carroll in a New York dressing room, also has a history of speaking out on high-profile sexual assault cases. In 1989, Trump purchased a full-page ad in The New York Times calling for the reinstatement of the death penalty after five Black teenagers were accused of raping and beating a white female jogger in Central Park; they were exonerated years later when another person confessed to the crime.
