I could think of several reasons for gays/etc to be right oriented rather than left. Most do not have children, for one reason. Parents usually get tax breaks that LGBTQ do not.

It is a sin of the heart and mind because its wounds last, cause harm, and may involve more than the two indulgents. LGBTQ lifestyle isn't for me, and doesn't apply to me because I wasn't born that way. But many are, and the biology of tendency with which they are born is no sin. To sentence them to a lifetime of forced, self imposed celibacy because their biological drive isn't heterosexual is cruel, inhumane, and certainly a sin. It is a very simple statement with no buts attached. How many followers of Yahweh over time have taken up weapons and gone to war? Killed in the name of greed? How many to this day bare false witness, steal, cheat? I don't buy into this sin thing. Blaming Adam and Eve for what humans do ever since Biblical times is passing the buck. It is my hope that humans will learn from past mistakes, gain greater understanding through experiences and science, through contact with one another and the sharing/exploration of ideas. If one is open to learning, that learning can influence & encourage change and the shedding of mistaken ideas. Never fear being wrong, because if you are willing to acknowledge you were wrong, you have learned and thus gained. Change = growth. No change = stagnation. Just because something was accepted as true and worthy in the past doesn't mean it MUST be true and worthy today or even in the future. Life, growth, learning are not stagnant. Death is. That's just ridiculous. Common sense, risk vs reward, harm vs nuturing, education, life experiences. . . all of these things and more can be used to meet challenges. They are good tools to use to make decisions, both moral and practical. Oh sometimes we will struggle looking for answers (maybe even often), sometimes we will make mistakes through ignorance or the lack of foresight, sometimes we will behave selfishly and callously, sometimes we will be confused - but they are all part of the learning process. At some point, humans must grow up, leave the nest, and figure out life for themselves. Experience is the difference between knowledge and wisdom. It has its risks but it has its rewards. We should never stop trying. Persistence often pays off. Be the change. . .

The truth is that this country was founded on secular laws that have been reached and established by consensus, just like any other civilization in history. It matters not whose god or scriptures people put their faith in... laws are established by consensus of human beings... of, for, and by the people. There is only one 'universal law' really, and that is the golden rule... 'do unto others...' Because you don't want people to lie, steal or harm you or your family, friends and neighbors... you don't get to lie, steal or harm other people and their family, friends and neighbors. See how simple that is? And because you value your freedom to live how you choose to live, and believe what you choose to believe without harming others, you have to respect the same right of others to believe and live the way they want or choose without harming others. It's really not rocket science, and it does not require some mystical or "absolute" truth, god or standard that no one can challenge. It only requires common sense that CAN and SHOULD be challenged as times and circumstances change. It's called evolution. Many laws CAN and do change, and with good reason. Not all laws are inclusive, good or appropriate for the times or circumstances we find ourselves in, and people CAN have legitimate disagreements on which laws are good, bad or need to be changed. There is NO absolute standard to go by, except maybe the universal 'golden rule' standard which was written and acknowledged even before your "holy book" was written. If we all had to accept your "absolute standard" or chosen beliefs or interpretations in your "holy book", we would have to kill children for disrespecting or disobeying their parents, kill people for picking up sticks on the sabbath day, kill women (AND their unborn babies) who get pregnant without being married, kill homosexuals, kill adulterers, and kill anyone "God" tells us to in order to conquer a neighboring country or community that "God" wants to give to us, according to those who wrote this "holy book." So the fact remains, laws are made by and for people in order to live more peaceably and judiciously within a 'civilized' society and world... despite any one person's or group's beliefs or claims to the contrary.

Still... there are as many diverse opinions and 'sides' to issues as there are people. There is still a wide range on the spectrum for both Democrats and Republicans to fall on when it comes to many issues being considered 'left' or 'right' oriented. I would argue that Democrat administrations are more fiscally "conservative" and responsible than Republicans these days, even though many would think the opposite to be true. Most people do not even look at the stats and numbers when it comes to budgets, deficits and debt as related to the records of Republican vs Democrat administrations. Many just 'believe' Republicans are the more fiscally responsible or "conservative" because that's what they've been led to believe. If you look at the stats, though, the opposite would obviously be true. It should be obvious that today's Republicans are diverting attention to 'social conservatism' issues rather than fiscal conservatism, drawing attention away from their irresponsible fiscal policies, knowing that most people don't look at or realize what the stats reveal. They know that many people will be more inclined to focus on emotional issues, like abortion and gays and such, while just believing the lies and misinformation that are put out there by so-called 'traditional' "conservatives."

Most people are mixtures of beliefs, environment, needs, and inborn characteristics that don't fit any particular political party. With only two main parties, that are diametrically opposed to one another on multiple issues, it makes zero sense to presume that human beings fit neatly or perfectly into one or the other based on only one aspect of themselves. Example: I am a social liberal but a fiscal conservative. I come from a family of politically leaning Republican folks originally from Massachusetts. Aren't we all supposed to be rabid Democrats?? Yet less than half of us are. In fact, MA isn't nearly as "blue" as outsiders believe. Within my birth family, friends, and MA neighbors, very single one of us has a variety of viewpoints on every issue - some right, some left, with varying degrees of agreement of each. That's why MA has had both R & D governors, mayors, senators, reps, etc. Voters aren't programmed droids. Nonpolitical, uninformed, and indoctrinated voters usually vote straight tickets based on stereotypical beliefs about political parties. Ditto every state. Our current countrywide assumptions about strangers based on "surface evidence" and their presumed motives is deeply flawed! The endless assumptions and accusations that come from that flaw is downright DANGEROUS on top of being DOWNRIGHT STUPID!
