The Ten Commandments, the basis of Christian morality, is often ignored/side-stepped when it becomes inconvenient.

"Thou shalt not kill". There are no amendments to that. It is a very simple statement with no buts attached.

How many followers of Yahweh over time have taken up weapons and gone to war? Killed in the name of greed? How many to this day bare false witness, steal, cheat?

I don't buy into this sin thing. Blaming Adam and Eve for what humans do ever since Biblical times is passing the buck. Everyone is responsible for their own behavior. And today, we recognize that sometimes we are forced to kill (self-defense).

We either rise above ourselves, our primitive instincts and drives, or we sink to them. Either way, its our choice. And the choice we make will show our true character.

It's been proven throughout history that belief in a god, any god, can not change that. And that's not surprising because as you say, religions are man-made.
