Well, I'm still struggling, big time. Posted by Sia on March 26, 2026, 2:10 pm, in reply to "Exactly" ADMIN While the damaged nerves have quieted down, the severely atrophied VMO muscle in my left thigh that controls the knee has not responded to months of water PT. The current fragility of my back and need to baby it for the next year means that I can't do "land" PT. (That's using equipment and standard exercises out of the water that protects against gravity forces). So, I cannot squat or bend my knees very much because I cannot get back up without help because the VMO muscle, part of the quad, is all but gone and without it, I can't push up to stand up. I have to manually pull my left leg up to get into a car, which is a real PITA. Also, it appears that the damage to my spinal vertebrae has now gone up to T12, T11, & T10 because of adjacent disorder common with fusions.. Probably looking at 3 more fusions given how painful the area is now. So tired of surgery. So tired of weakness and pain. On a high note, it appears the the DVT blood clot in my calf has dissipated so I can stop taking blood thinners. Yay!

Just glad you're in hands that can do something and are. One comfort you have, is you're not alone. As slow as the progress is, it's still progress and each day is better. It's hard to be cheerful when you're in chronic pain, and you're in an absolute ordeal. I remember you in prayers and ask for healing, purpose and understanding. If I have an argument with God, this is it. Why? What's the purpose? You deserve better. You can look away from a painting, but you can't listen away from a symphony

I had to work up to being able to drive for an hour and a half each way to get there on Wednesdays and back home on Saturdays. I can't cook them fancy suppers yet, but I can manage simple meals where standing up for long periods isn't needed. I can't do grocery shopping yet, but quick stops I can manage. I can finally sleep without excessive pain! ⁷

" Valued Poster that you have come this far! Hopefully you will continue to make more gains. I've been doing therapy on my hand and wrist. It's still weak and sore, but making progress. The lack of that tendon in my thumb bothers me. It just doesn't do what I want it to do and gets in my way. If I decide to do the surgery in a year or two, it will probably be another long recovery time, and I don't know if it will even work or be worth it at my age. Minor problems compared to what you are dealing with!
