I think the ridiculousness of that place has reached satirical levels now, it's become a parody of itself without 'Garry' realising. This was brought home to me in the thread mentioned above, where he posted under something like four different names, agreeing with himself along the way and then proclaiming what a great forum it is!
It's often hilarious, but there is also an undercurrent of arrogance and nastiness which is far less entertaining. 'Garry' would have us believe that he is the omniscient, infallible arbiter of what makes 'good radio' - anything that dosen't [see what I did there?] fall into his narrow definition of an acceptable format is virulently dismissed as rubbish (or worse), and people who have different tastes to him are insulted. So much for his supposed rule about not tolerating attacks on individuals.
At the end of the day, it's harmless and irrelevant to what happens in the real world of radio, so it's best to just have a giggle or ignore it.
keyboards seem to encourage a slighty different behaviour compared to face to face discussion - many folks are personable and take a less extreme position, until they retire to their computer. I dare say there are exceptions to this.
I (think) I've learnt interesting stuff/read amusing bits from a few specific, named, posters on the other side.
I recall an incident after I interviewed PM for community radio. Apparently he revealed some new information during what a fascinating chat. Afterwards on one of these forums, people claimed it was old news. Mildly tiresome I imagine. This is perhaps an anorak thing - I've heard the same about bus fans - they love to find things out/claim things as fact to appear knowledgable. It can sometime cause problems.
