For the last week of Atlantis the English service ran during the day which was great timing for me as my parents had hired a houseboat on Oulton broad Norfolk and the normally weak signal in South London was a lot better meaning you could listen to it on a portable radio without bits of wire going round the picture rail and then dangling outside for a few metres like a second washing line.
After the final hour a short jingle played "that's all folks" and I watched the s meter on the radio for a few seconds then the carrier cut and the s meter fell back to nothing, happy memories but sad as well, I hope your audio clip includes the "that's all folks" bit at the end as I haven't listened to it yet!
I wonder if anyone remembers this little Offshore station, off the Dutch coast, that started life, on the Mi Amigo, & then their own ship, until the Dutch MOA came in. Any memories, or did you work on it?
Here is their final hour.
