Its much older than that, G, its the legacy of slavery, that legacy lingers in the U.S cities today,...Black families were torn apart during slavery. Throughout slavery, Black family units were in constant danger of disruption, and those in bondage had no control over the structure of their families, let alone their lives.
What was interesting is that after the Civil War, there was a lot of movement of AAs around the country trying to reconnect family members. Now new disruptions arose with the Great Migration,.. over 6 million AAs from the South to Northern and Western cities and states which had a destabilizing effect on families, and is associated with issues relating to unemployment, low wages and poor housing conditions. Anyway, Black families continue to experience financial disparities.
And understanding the Black experience, including the inequalities and prejudices that Black people were subjected to, is crucial to understanding the disparities in the nation.
Agree with most of what's written..
As for the Civil Rights movement, it went off track with the emphasis on "integration". That's when the shit started to unravel - we abandoned all the structures which helped us survive the white man's wickedness.
Then "liberalism" set in and programs that perhaps were well-intentioned helped rip apart our sense of self-determination & self-reliance. More importantly, some programs helped break up the family model of a man & woman in the house. A complete disaster for Black folks!
Then some Civil Rights leaders got corrupted from govt largesse & benefits..
Then politics got into the Black Church and into the pulpit, especially Democratic party politics..
That's how we went from Dr King to AL Sharpton.
Then feminism came along and many miseducated Black women started shitting on Black men, demonizing many of us.
"..the Bible is not all literal and God loves all."
But who determines what's literal and what's not?
"and God loves all".
NO HE DOESN’T! Just read the Book of Exodus - God hates homosexuality etc.
Gay rigts..Cool!
As for Trans, as long as they don't claim to be women..Cool!
But a man is a man and a woman is a woman, and never the twain shall meet .
