Speaking at Newton’s funeral, his fellow Black Panther Party co-founder Bobby Seale said: “He stood for all of us, and he did so in ways very few people could even attempt … The debt we owe to HPN is one that can never be paid and may never even be fully understood.” Amen!!
Mainstream media and white liberals like to simplify the complex life of Newton by labeling it controversial, ignoring the oppressive environment in which he was forced to act.
About 150 people sang and danced in the rain to celebrate the unveiling of a sculpture honoring Huey P. Newton, who co-founded the Black Panther Party in the city of Oakland, ca.
What a shame, only until "2021" that our dear Newton received some recognition. Got his first permanent art installation(Bronze bust) as an activist, who started the Panthers with Bobby Seale in 1966 to provide educational, and economic support to the Black community. The party developed services to meet the everyday needs of Black Americans, including a free breakfast program that would become a model for the federal program in schools across the country.
