Forumites, we've got the brother of one of my heroes, Chicago's very own Dr. Conrad Worrill posting.
Conrad was the director of Chicago's Black United Front, a group that helped to ensure Harold Washington was elected mayor, back in the day.
Conrad was also one of the key Afrocentric brothers who made inroads into mitigating the false depictions of the Ancient Egyptians by the University of Chicago, at its Oriental Institute. When I first came to Chicago in 1977, just a few years after the police assassinations of Black Panthers Fred Hampton and Mark Clark, Conrad and his cohorts were in full swing dismantling the false narrative's surrounding Ancient Egypt, and Mesopotamia.
And not to overlook Oscar's achievements. He's a united front brotha in his own right, whom I'm sure will provide plenty of insight into successful community activism forays.
If I'm correct, you worked with the saving and renovation of the South Shore Country Club on South Lake Shore Drive, didn't you?
Today, it's under community control and is called the South Shore Cultural Center.
