On July 28, 1868, the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution, which granted citizenship to all persons born or naturalized in the United States, was certified. This amendment was pivotal in the Reconstruction Era, as it aimed to protect the rights of former slaves, particularly in the face of oppressive state laws that sought to limit their freedoms. The amendment also established due process and equal protection under the law to all persons residing here. ICE is daily trampling on these rights, and Trump sought to undermine the 14th at the Supreme Court, but failed 6/3 and 5/4. It should have been 9/0.
