"nothing we should become unhinged about."
Yea, I read it too, and had to remind myself that Les is a writer who should be aware of the use of language or words etc.
The thing is, I have so much respect for Les for both this board and his Afrocentric work outside of it, that i'm having a hard time figuring what's keeping him trapped in this mindset?
Les is also a friend & follower of Jesse Jackson, meaning he must be aware of all the shit Jesse went through for his support of a Free Palestine. Is Les suggesting that Jesse was not mindful of the discrimination faced by Afro-Palestinians in Gaza, Jerusalem, etc?., and deliberately not address it or dismiss it? Strange.
Right now my gut instinct suggest that Les has mainstream political ambitions and wants to keep a safe distance from any hardcore Palestinian support. Or because of his ongoing Hollywood projects, is maintaining a required silence or "neutrality".
Either way its very disappointing and heartbreaking to someone like me.
But I will NOT BE SILENCED OR COWED IN MY SUPPORT FOR A FREE PALESTINE.. And I will not mitigate it or 'whataboutism' it.
Whats happening in Gaza and the West Bank has rippling effects on American & international politics. Time will tell.
