Your version on their rejection of being ruled by China can also be correct, however I've heard another version about that which makes more sense, actually all three of them have resisted to be ruled by China because each one have distinct historical, cultural, and political systems that clash with Beijing's authoritarian model. While each region has a unique situation, their resistance centers on the defense of local freedoms, distinct identities, and self-governance. In Belgium where I live the Flemish part of the population has historically resisted/refused to be ruled by the French region of the country to the point where not long ago a border was about to be drawn to divide the country in half despite the European Union banner. FYI, the Walloons and the Flemish in this country don't have the same language nor the same culture.

Taiwan, Hong Kong and Tibet largely reject being ruled by the People's Republic of China because the places are made up of strongly counter revolutionaries.
As for Taiwan, Chiang Kai-shek, and his roughly 2.7 million soldiers, government officials, and wealthy land owners moved from the mainland to there after being chased out in 1949.

I think I'm one of the very few who always consider the past, history, or the ongoing situations of any nation. I believe China's approach to aid for Cuba is deeply political, serving as both a geopolitical counterweight to the U.S and a practical effort to stabilize a fellow socialist ally.
Do you know that reports by international human rights organizations, the U.N and exiled Tibetan groups document systematic oppression of Tibetans by the Chinese government? Do you remember what Chinese civilians and their govnt did to Africans during Covid in 2020? FYI discrimination and anti-Black racism toward African people do occur in China and across its social media platforms in certain instances. And while the Chinese government officially states it has zero tolerance for racial discrimination, watchdogs report that prejudice remains a significant issue and Chinese officials are not doing much about it.
Although, like I said, its good for Cuba, it is hard for me to "swallow" that this current Chinese help to Cuba(where most of the ppl are Black) is coming strictly from the "good heart" of China's govnt. I doubt that China is offering assistance to Cuba with complete sincerity, deep compassion, and no expectation of a reward. Thats not a "friend", that's a "FOX". LOL!
