FYI Les, California doesn't have a legitimate reason to break away from the USA, after all California, New York and Michigan etc don't have major differences, same culture, same religion, same McDos, same language(English), almost the same mentality. But Hong Kong, Tibet, and Taiwan do not speak the same language, and they do not have the same cultures either, though they all share deep historical connections to broader Chinese civilization. Thats a big difference, Les. In Nigeria if the opportunity is given the country will be divided by 100 in a minute, due to the fake and imposed British borders back in the colonial times. And I'm sure you know the cultural, linguistic and religious differences in Nigeria. You would think you're in different countries if you go for a tour around Nigeria. So you can't really compare California to Hong Kong in this matter. But you can compare Hong Kong to the Igbo tribe who sought independence from Nigeria by declaring the Republic of Biafra in 1967.
Europe itself, Les, was divided before based on cultural and linguistic differences including differences in branches of Christianity, and even yeeaars after the European Union was formed those differences can still be an obstacle in the minds of the Euro societies.

But Les, China's modern economic policies have been shaped "significantly" by "Western" concepts of global trade, capitalism, and industrial modernization. It wasn't shaped from a "Chinese cultural standpoint".

Well, TheOne, Taiwan is a breakaway state. They're tantamount to California breaking away and claiming their own sovereignty. I think the U.S. would be very stern with that type of offshoot. Hong Kong, meanwhile, was also a breakaway state influenced by Westerners. China ceded Hong Kong to the British, but regained control in 1997. Hong Kong has more of a western personality, now. But China ensures it knows who's the boss. Tibet, meanwhile, has also claimed autonomy, but China isn't having it.

I think I'm one of the very few who always consider the past, history, or the ongoing situations of any nation. I believe China's approach to aid for Cuba is deeply political, serving as both a geopolitical counterweight to the U.S and a practical effort to stabilize a fellow socialist ally.
Do you know that reports by international human rights organizations, the U.N and exiled Tibetan groups document systematic oppression of Tibetans by the Chinese government? Do you remember what Chinese civilians and their govnt did to Africans during Covid in 2020? FYI discrimination and anti-Black racism toward African people do occur in China and across its social media platforms in certain instances. And while the Chinese government officially states it has zero tolerance for racial discrimination, watchdogs report that prejudice remains a significant issue and Chinese officials are not doing much about it.
Although, like I said, its good for Cuba, it is hard for me to "swallow" that this current Chinese help to Cuba(where most of the ppl are Black) is coming strictly from the "good heart" of China's govnt. I doubt that China is offering assistance to Cuba with complete sincerity, deep compassion, and no expectation of a reward. Thats not a "friend", that's a "FOX". LOL!
