While Juneteenth commemorates U.S. Emancipation, few know that chattel slavery continued to be legally practiced in "Indian Country" well past the close of the Civil War.(Photo below)
Yes, chattel slavery involving Black people did continue among some Native American nations, particularly the Five Civilized Tribes, until "1866" when the U.S. government forced new treaties that mandated the abolition of slavery. While slavery legally ended in the U.S. with the ratification of the 13th Amendment in 1865, its practical end in Indian Territory was delayed until "1866", as the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 did not apply to these areas.
LOL, now I'm not saying they(Indians)deserved to be exterminated.
And guess what year African slavery ended in Saudi Arabia? Until 1962. Again I'm not saying Arabs deserve some kind of genocide. LOL!!
