She has died in Cuba..
She was 78 yrs old..

Nothing illustrates the impotence of Black elected officials than the fact that Assata Shakur had to die in Cuba, just miles away from her home, the United States.

We now have more elected Black political officials than any other marginalized group yet we couldn't mobilize them on behalf of Assata Shakur..
We currently have the head of the Democratic party in Congress, Hakeem Jeffries, yet he didn't give a shit about Assata..
We elected a Black president, Barack Obama, yet he didn't give a shit about a Black woman whose fight for Black Liberation contributed to him becoming our 1st Black president..

Again, whats the friggin point of electing Black officials if they don't cater to our interests?

At least, thank god, Leonard Peltier is now spending his last days at home in 'freedom'..
Not so for Assata Shakur. RIP.

This is a serious sad moment, may she rest in peace forever. So happy for her that she's now really at peace on the other side.

Assata was totally "ABANDONED" by Black Americans. Her own peeps,.. What a shame, she never deserved that.

I heard this sad news on my car radio yesterday while driving home after seeing one of my home care clients. RIP Assata.

She never killed that cop that the state claims she did. She should have never had to flee to Cuba.

However, Kudos to Cuba for taking her in. Kudos for not extraditing her.

I am sures she did not die alone. I am sure that at her beside were Afro-Cuban doctors.

Since the Cuban revolution, Black Cubans have been well-represented in Cuba's medical field, with studies showing they hold a majority of positions in the medical professions.

Long live the memory of Assata. Long live the Cuban revolution!!!!

My Lord, these are solid Saturday Jams!
And so applicable & timely & relevant!
Still breaks my heart hearing Assata Shakur has gone to the ancestors!
And as maestro noted, she no doubt was surrounded by Cuban doctors aware of her revolutionary legacy and no doubt showing great respect during her final hours.
RIP ASSATA SHAKUR.

A few months ago Trump threatened to block Caribbean leaders from traveling to the United States if they didn't shut down the Cuban medical centers across the region and send the doctors back to Cuba.
I don't think Trump & Rubio ever came up with a legit reason other than the usual cold war mentality blah blah blah..

To be honest, no need to read this cause you guys already understand the foolishness behind the attack on Cuban doctors, many of them Afro-Cubans. Smdfh
