Nothing illustrates the impotence of Black elected officials than the fact that Assata Shakur had to die in Cuba, just miles away from her home, the United States.

We now have more elected Black political officials than any other marginalized group yet we couldn't mobilize them on behalf of Assata Shakur..
We currently have the head of the Democratic party in Congress, Hakeem Jeffries, yet he didn't give a shit about Assata..
We elected a Black president, Barack Obama, yet he didn't give a shit about a Black woman whose fight for Black Liberation contributed to him becoming our 1st Black president..

Again, whats the friggin point of electing Black officials if they don't cater to our interests?

At least, thank god, Leonard Peltier is now spending his last days at home in 'freedom'..
Not so for Assata Shakur. RIP.
