Sorry to hear of Barney's passing. No one in Congress spoke out louder for civil rights and civil liberties for all people than Barney Frank. Also, Frank's sense of humor was second to none. He drove the Reagan folk nuts, especially the bat shit crazy Bob Dornan. Ole "B-1 Bob" had several notable run-ins and exchanges with Barney on the House floor and on national television, always getting his hat handed to him by the quick-witted Frank. RIP Barney

He was a Civil Rights activist who turned and became a fierce critic of Black Leaders and other Civil Rights activists like Jesse Jackson etc..

He was the head Black Neo-Con and was rewarded quite well by his overseers..
Robert Woodson was the Candace Owens who never flipped the Neo-Con script..
Last time I saw him on tv, he was still a critic of the NAACP & Urban League, liberals, in a way I felt very uncomfortable with - he was deliberately being insidious, even at one point praising Trump as a post-racial president blah blah blah..

oohhhh no!!!! gm, you are not going to believe this. Years ago, while strolling through our downtown mall one morning, lo and behold, who do i see going up an escalator in front of me? It was Woodson. I stopped him and said hi and he told me he was in town for a meeting of some kind. He gave a hardy belly laugh when i told him he was the only conservative i liked. We sat down in the lunch court and he had a chicken stir fry. We spoke about our days in the Air Force. He dropped out of high school and enlisted at 17. I at eighteen. Really cool guy personally. And exceptionally bright. He struck me as mysterious. All the way home after i met him, I just had a hard time envisioning him getting along with the Reagan/Bush crowd. When we departed the mall, he hugged me and said, "all right my man, Dave it was great talking with you." RIP Robert, you were all right with me. However, your politics sucked big time.

To say she was a Civil Rights pioneer, activist/warrior is an understatement..
She went through the whole brutal dramas of harassment, jailed, ignored, underappreciated, misogyny, blatant racism, sexual harassment - the whole gambit..

Like I said, the 1st couple times I heard him I thought, "hmm, interesting guy", because he was echoing some of my new ways of thinking about the Black condition and the way forward, including having spent too much emphasis on things like busing, integration, dependency on gov't largesse, fighting crime, sticking to one party no matter how badly we were treated, etc etc. But then I caught on that he was selling those ideas not because he believed them but because the Neo-Conservative movement bubbling up at the time wanted to put up a couple Black faces to push through their anti-Civil Rights agenda etc. Woodson was truly a neo-CON MAN! Lol

LOL.. i'm posting this for personal reasons!

Schlitz Beer was the first beer I EVAR tasted - put into my mouth!
It was an American beer that was big in the islands!
I still remember one of my brother's friends, while playing a domino game, urging me to taste Schlitz from a can!
I was horrified - cause that in itself - would constitute a sin, according to my strict Catholic upbringing!
Then my brother looked at me and said to just take a taste!
I tasted it and thought it was horrible and spit it out!
Again, it was the first beer I ever sipped on!

Later on I tasted it again and it didn't feel that disgusting!
And I tasted it again during domino games and eventually got used to the taste!
AND I CONTINUED TO DRINK THAT SHIT FOR YEARS during my high school years etc.

LOL.. I hadn't heard about Schlitz Beer for years and years until reading about its closing down a few minutes ago.
Oh man, I have such great memories of drink Schlitz beer at parties, while playing dominoes, watching cricket & football/soccer games, playing music, etc. GOOD TIMES!

Half the fathers on my block when I was growing up worked at Schlitz. It employed many here for years. The plant was right across the street from a junior college i attended part time. I had no idea Pabst brewing had bought the brand very early on...Pabst sucked!

The article says it was 'not ending permanently' but placed on 'hiatus'. Fuccck them!!

lol... I remember how the macho guys - 'the rough necks' we called them - used to crush the Schlitz beer cans in one hand just for show. But then those cans were light and soft as hell. Not much of a feat to crush them down - pretty much flatten them, the empty ones!

He & DJ E-Z Rock created some good noise in NYC, especially in Harlem..
Then "It Takes Two" blasted off on the charts and that was it..

Heard of his passing about 2 days. He wasn't that old. May he rest in peace and I would like to thank him for this timeless classic. Man, I was 20 yrs old raving at this song "It Takes Two" (1988). Yes, just 20?? Can you imagine how free and crazy I was at the time. LOL.

By the way, this was the first song(video below) I can remember that was played soo much I couldn't help but to get tired of it at the time. RIP ROB BASE! Also RIP AFRIKA BAMBAATAA although he had sexually assaulted a dude. SMH!!
