Both of my sisters worked there. One in Tailoring and the other in the drugs department. Both left to do war work in 1939/40. One sister went into what was called The Bomb Factory, the other first in Reyrolles and later the Pyrotenax. She with three others had half a day off and went to the beach. All four were sacked and had to go to the job centre who sent all four to work in London as housemaids at a mansion in Eton Square, which was where the top civil Servants were living while organising rehousing bombed out Londoners as well as other war work. She met her husband and they made London their home.
