Yes they were sacked for taking an afternoon off work, it was not allowed in war time., but they had left CWS. My older sister left and went to work at the Bomb Factory as it was called at the time. I think she did that in case she was sent into the forces. They all had to report the next day to the Labour exchange. You either had to join the forces or do war work. One of the girls was called Mary Botto, I believe her father was a bookmaker in Jarrow. I wonder if your aunt was on of the other girls.
