Our type of trip is usually for 7 to 10 days or a lot more. It’s used as a base for cycling or was until recently.
We don’t bother with a two nighter unless that’s during a journey say to the South of France. Then we used to set up and stay 3 weeks all part of a 9 or 6 week trip.
Motorhomes are just too cramped and pigs to drive on narrow roads. The top stupidly to us is then trailering a car behind the Motorhome.
There is a chap at our storage area who has a large Motorhome and he tows a trailer with his car in it. It’s old and to replace it all not including car £120,000. No way.
Then you have the cost of the Motorhome and the car If I could afford to buy a new car and Motorhome it would cost me £100,000 + that was before say 2019 now way above that.
I require a large car to tow, carry gear and haul my bikes. I have always had the most powerful car that I can afford since 1985.
The power is to enable long fast trips even when towing and 400 miles in one day not unknown.
Have used a top end Motorhome once for a few days , not for me, too restrictive.
These days I would still have my car and caravan but would buy a VW traveller conversation so that I could go cycling or say a race meeting 150 miles away.
That’s not going to happen not enough money in the pot and now too old.
As I said Each to his own.
