The Farnes could be restricting wave buildup inshore but there is no sign of rollers as yet.
The seas off the Yorkshire coast look to be similar so work on the two ships made easier if they can risk getting close.
It looks as if the Cargo ship hit the Tanker on its port side maybe a third of the way forward. That could be close to the Tankers heavy fuel oil tanks or oil supply system.
Hopefully neither ship will be lost and their cargo saved from the water, well most of it.
The collision was in what they call the outer anchorage I see.
Is this another case of a not properly trained crew?
