Sadly they took his life at aged 60. Remember Mrs Warwick’s shop in Birtwhistle Avenue. After he died she told my Mum, he was buying 60 cigs a day and she queried him and asked if his wife knew, but he just laughed and joked “ don’t tell her”. That was 1956. We are all wiser now.
