Took my test in 1977 in Germany, in my Mini.

The examiner sat in the back seat.....

NO hill start....we lived on the Dutch/German border...there wasn't a hill, or even slight slope for hundreds of miles!!

3 days later, drove across Holland/Belgium (300 miles plus) ferry...home to Yorkshire on leave for a week.... WAIT...there's more

Whilst on leave, rubbed down the muti-coloured car, and re-sprayed it RED...looked great..

Drove back to Germany, stopped at the gate (as usual) and the RAF Police pointed out that my car documents weren't in order, as the colour of the car wasn't correct........DUH!!

Had to explain.....eventually let in, on the promise that I got my documents updated, to reflect the new colour...

Used to do a thousand mile round-trip up to Denmark, to visit my Danish girlfriend, for a long week-end.....Happy Days!!!
