Reported on the BBC it’s supposedly only for the right to work in the U.K.

If it’s just for that, why bother I ask.

I had hoped that ID cards would help in controlling immigration and help in pinpointing those who should not be in the U.K. plus identifying those that use our NHS without contributing to its cost.

An ID would help the emergency services treating people.

It’s possible that in the next few years we will have to have one anyway due to the threats that appear to be heading our way for some quarters.
