I remember when I was a kid when the trains were still electric, crossing over the wooden crossing point rather than going over the bridge.

No overhead power lines then. It was a live third rail. There was a break in the third rail where the crossing point was, but it still put the shivers up me!!!

H & S were a little lax then.
