Liz mentioning you lived in Chiswick, reminded me when I used to ask my sister did she ever see a friend from work, now thy had retired. She would no she lives miles away in Streatham, or another lived in Islington. It seems the locals never strayed from their area of London, unless shopping or the theatre. I knew Pimlico, Chelsea and Victoria Street Westminster mostly and my sister and husband used black cabs a lot, so always had to check buses. The Victoria line on the underground came later. I just love the memories of it now.
