Patrick's account footnotes mentions bodies being buried in ballast hills. It may have been a more common practise thst we thought. The ballast hill cemetery at Ouseburn was an unconcecrated burial area and you have to wonder if both Hebburn and Jarrow had such an area albeit on a much smaller scale.
